First stage of science is seeing what’s there, and giving everything names, right? So this is a perfectly acceptable first-stage-scientific poem:
The Guppy
Whales have calves,
Cats have kittens,
Bears have cubs,
Bats have bittens,
Swans have cygnets,
Seals have puppies,
